Why is Imran visiting Malta?
To meet and hang out with my brother.

Things to do in Malta
Malta is an island nation located in the Mediterranean south of Sicily and north of Libya. It is part of the Eurozone. I was in Malta for a very short period of time and hence didn't get the opportunity to explore the island nation to the fullest. There are a lot of historical structures located in Malta the most famous being the Megalithic Temples located on the islands of Malta and Gozo. The temples are the oldest free standing structure known. Since I didn't have enough time to catch a ferry ride to Gozo, I did manage to explore the Capital city of Valletta on foot by walking throughout the streets and alleys.

The most famous Maltese dish is the Fenkata or the Maltese rabbit. I didn't get the opportunity to try eating the Fenkata as I didn't have enough time to go to a good Fenkata joint as planned.

I hope you don't start behaving like a rabbit after eating one. |

Things to eat in Malta
Malta is an expensive country when it comes to eating food. Eating on a budget is not that hard either. There are a lot of Turkish Shawarma shops scattered throughout the island. The Turkish restaurants offer good food for less. I stopped at one of the Turkish establishments and ordered the Lamb Shawarma platter which consisted of shaved lamb choices of 3 sides ( I had the potatoes, eggplants & cucumber salad), fries, rice and 2 sauces all for 7 Euros, which is definitely a bargain considering the amount of food you get. For someone on a tight budget while visiting Malta, filling up on Shawarma meals is a good choice. The food is tasty and super filling, it can also be split into two portions to be eaten as lunch and dinner.

Valletta the capital city of Malta has a lot of fine dine restaurants serving a variety of cuisines. I visited San Giovanni restaurant which serves the best Pasta and Pizzas in town. I ordered the Barbecue Chicken Pizza which was way different than the BBQ Chicken Pizza served in the states. The BBQ sauce wasn't very sweet and had a smoky flavor to it. The amount of chicken was generous and the amount of cheese was sufficient without it being an overkill. I would give the Pizza a 8/10. The restaurant has outdoor seating with views of the St Johns Cathedral.

I also tried the Pasta which was pretty decent and didn't live up to the hype. I ordered the Pasta with Aubergines and Feta Cheese. Although filling, the pasta I personally think is overrated. You are better of sticking to the pizza instead of the Pasta at San Giovanni restaurant.

Conclusion
Malta is a great country with amazing air quality and great views of the Mediterranean. For a country with a small size there is definitely a lot of things to do and see. In the summer seasons there are three times more tourists than residents. Malta requires to be seen in a relaxed way and explored at ones own pace.
